The art of good sound
To me sound work is first and foremost a work of art. Mixing a CD, doing live sound or doing sound design for a film, a play or a video game – it is always about designing the acoustic experience of the audience. Every single product presents itself with its own set of challenges and criteria. If you only depend on learned skills you are little more than a guy, who knows how to put up a microphone and use a mixing desk. These nonetheless important skills, just like the technical skills of a musician, should never be more than the means to accomplish your acoustic visions and deliver the artistic statement of the project, and help you to give the audience, listener or user a unique and immersive acoustic experience.
